Saint Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine is fulfilling its historical mission today – training veterinarians for almost all regions of Russia and for other countries. In the North-Western region of Russia the University is the leading educational institution for the training of veterinarians.
Currently, the faculty has about 3,000 students.

Veterinary medicine is a specialty covering various fields of activity. Today, veterinarians provide assistance to small domestic, agricultural, exotic and wild animals. They conduct animal examinations to establish a diagnosis and treat sick animals. In addition, veterinary specialists participate in measures to prevent the occurrence of non-communicable and infectious diseases to ensure sustainable animal health.
